YOUNG PERSONS’ AWARD FOR INNOVATION IN ACOUSTICAL ENGINEERING
In an increasingly noisy world, the prospects for those embarking on a career in acoustics are looking better than ever and the Institute of Acoustics is keen to recognise and celebrate their contributions. With this in mind, the Institute of Acoustics is pleased to bring to your attention our exciting new award, which recognizes the inventiveness and skills of young acoustical engineers. This biennial award, sponsored by the Industrial Acoustics Company, is being widely publicised with a view to increasing awareness of the value of acoustical engineering to the community at large. We want to encourage younger people working to solve noise related problems in your sector, and to promote the field of industrial acoustics across a wide spectrum of engineering applications.
In addition to the prestige associated with winning such an award, there is a handsome trophy and valuable prize for the winner. The first runner up will also receive a prize and both the first and second runner up will receive commendations.
Those eligible for the award will be aged up to thirty years (or are within their first five years working in the industry) and have applied innovative acoustical engineering solutions. Individuals are welcome to enter themselves or nominations can be submitted from third parties. Full details and entry forms are available from the Institute’s website www.ioa.org.uk or by telephoning Linda Canty at the Institute on 01727 848195.
We would be grateful for BBI help in publicising this important award to young people involved in acoustical engineering in your sector. We are keen to attract more entries before the closing date of 15 July 2005 for the inaugural award.
Yours sincerely,
For the Institute of Acoustics
