BBI EVENTS

Visits: Two informative and successful visits were held during September and October, namely Arla Foods at Hatfield Peverel, and Thomas Hardy at Burtonwood. Our next visit is to Matthew Clark at Shepton Mallet on 19th November. Visits are also being arranged to Coors, Burton upon Trent, and Robinson’s, Norwich and Stag Brewery at Mortlake, Fairplaste at Thurrock and Histogram at Durham, and Linpac Materials Handling at Winsford, Princes Foods at Cardiff.

The Overseas visit to Austria is being arranged for February 2004 and specific details are being circulated to members. Details of all visits will be placed on the website www.bbi.org.uk and will also be circulated to members by post.

BBI DINNER/EVENT

A small sub-Committee of the Council has been reviewing options for an event next year. Initial thoughts are that we should combine the presentation of the Ale, Lager & FAB competition awards and the traditional networking function. This could be run as either a lunch or dinner function, although the evening event is probably the more favoured.

Current thinking on the format is as follows:

Venue: London Marriott

Month: September 2004

Weekday: Monday

Start Time: 18.00

Award Presentations: fitted between courses and at the end together with BBI Achievement Award

Speakers: High profile Industry Speaker / Award presenter and/or Celebrity speaker / Award presenter

We believe that we can significantly increase the number of attendees to the event by the inclusion of the award presentations, which will attract personnel from the competing companies together with their suppliers.

We have received comments from previous award winners that the lunch time presentations in the past provided an excellent opportunity to involve their staff and this expanded awards event would certainly increase that potential.

We would be very grateful for your feedback on these suggestions either by email, info@binstedgroup.com, or by using the website www.bbi.org.uk. It is important that we get as much input as possible to ensure that the final format will be successful in attracting sufficient numbers to make it both a networking and financial success

Circulated by Brian Gibbs, website co-ordinator.
